Another illustration for my thesis!  This is an illustration of Moe and Poe finding the boy inside of the giant plum that fell from the sky.  They have a cool house too :) Make sure to view it at full size, there's a lot of stuff in there!

Here is an environment illustration for my thesis this semester! This is Moe and Poe's home! They have an orchard of grape trees and some gardens around.  Poe is off to work with his lunch and Moe is suspicious of that carrot :)

Here are my finals for my thesis's old couple!  They're the guys who find and raise the boy from inside the giant plum.  Moe and Poe are a couple of cuties.

These are my thumbnails for the Plum Boy's adoptive mom and dad!  These two cuties are the ones who found the main character of my senior thesis inside of a plum.  Old people are fun to draw :)

Pastries and Pie

The Pie Prince returns!  This illustration is for my d-painting class. For this class we use digital and traditional mediums together however we want.  I wasn't really sure what I was doing, but I like what I did!  I drew the lines with pencil, did the flat colors in Photoshop, and then printed it out and painted the values with acrylic.  I felt like painting food, so eventually it became the Pie Prince's dessert dream :)

The Monkey, the Tigerdog, and a mole named Cinnabar Finals

These are the final designs for the three companion characters in my spring senior thesis- the Monkey, the Tigerdog, and a mole named Cinnabar!  I took all of the critique that I got into consideration and this is what I came up with; I like them :) I also did a quick size comparison lineup of the three compared to the size of a human.  I had fun designing these guys!

Spring Thesis begins!

For my spring Senior Thesis I am doing my own version of the Japanese tale of Momotaro.  I decided to use a folk tale that already existed so that I could focus more on making work and not have to stress over creating a whole new story.  In my version I changed the characters and also the setting of the story- it does not take place in Japan.  Instead, it will take place somewhere that does not actually exist.

These are the first thumbs for some of the characters in the story.  The main character (he was found inside of a giant plum that fell from the sky) comes across these guys on his way to defeat some monsters.  The first is a Tigerdog, the second is a Monkey, and the third is a Mole named Cinnabar.   I'm still in the process of choosing their final designs; I have a lot to consider after Friday's class crit.  I had a lot of fun designing these guys! Thesis Illustration 4

This is my fourth thesis Illustration for my fall thesis Thistle and the Pie Prince!  The two characters are at the base of the monstrous king's mountain castle.  I sure hope they are good climbers.

This is my third Illustration for my Thesis!  Thistle is all ready to go save her nation but the Pie Prince is not ready to leave- he needs to bake some more pies first.

My first environment for my thesis from the world of Thistle and the Pie Prince!  I began it with not only the world itself but also shape design aesthetics in mind, and I really like how it turned out!  I plan on using this approach for a while :)

Oh man senior thesis!  Here is some of my progress for mine!  I came up with my own story and I am in the process of doing concept work for it as if it were going to be a cartoon short.  It is a tale about a girl who turns out to be the hero and the prince who didn't. These are the two main characters of my story, Thistle and the Pie Prince!  (that is also the name of my story as of now)  Much more to come!

this was the final assignment for my advanced concept art class.  we had to do a vignette of our world including the main character in an environment.  so, this is the heroine descending into the poison miasma to search out a way to save the floating islands :)

junior thesis part 3- Master Elodin and the Draccus

These are the final two characters for my Name of the Wind project.  The first is Master Elodin, the slightly off master at the "magic" school that the main character goes to while he is a teenager.  The second is the Draccus.  It is a creature in the book that isn't actually a dragon, but simply a lizard that happens to breathe blue fire.  The sacks on the side of its face contain the flammable liquid that it ignites.  The Draccus was my first attempt at a lizard creature.  It was fun :)

Orinoco main character designs

These are my two main characters for my world i'm building in Advanced Concept Art!  The first is the village leader.  As penance for some great sin, he shackled himself with all encompassing bird manacles- that is why he isn't going to go save the world himself.  They are heavy and he cannot do anything with his hands.  The keys hang from the bottom, but he cannot unlock them because, well, his hands are useless. His bird friend takes care of small things for him.  The second is the heroine.  She is not a trained fighter, and at first is not a good fit for her role, but eventually she grows into the part.  This is a new way of finishing things, which was fun :)
